Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using YouTubeTranscripts.co ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

YouTubeTranscripts.co provides a REST API for retrieving transcripts and metadata from YouTube videos. The Service uses third-party providers to extract captions and, when available, generate AI-powered transcripts.

3. Accounts and API Keys

• You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your API keys secure. Do not expose them in client-side code or public repositories.
• You may create up to 5 API keys per account.
• We reserve the right to revoke keys or suspend accounts that violate these terms.

4. Credits and Billing

• Credits are purchased as one-time packs. Credits never expire on active accounts.
• Each API request consumes one or more credits depending on the operation.
• Failed requests (4xx/5xx errors) do not consume credits.
• All purchases are final. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.
• Prices are listed in USD and may be updated with 30 days notice.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits or abuse the API
• Share API keys with unauthorized third parties
• Scrape or redistribute YouTube content in violation of YouTube's Terms of Service
• Use the Service to build a competing transcript API without permission
• Reverse-engineer the Service or its underlying systems

6. Rate Limits

API requests are subject to rate limits based on your plan tier. Exceeding rate limits will result in HTTP 429 responses. Persistent abuse may result in account suspension.

7. Service Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The Service depends on third-party providers (YouTube, Supadata) whose availability is outside our control. We offer SLA commitments on Pro plans and above as described on our pricing page.

8. Intellectual Property

Transcripts retrieved through the Service are derived from YouTube videos and belong to the original content creators. You are responsible for ensuring your use of transcript data complies with applicable copyright laws and YouTube's Terms of Service.

9. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, unused credits are forfeited.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
